Nordea highly esteems the making of cultūral values and masterpieces of art. To contribute to education of the public and please the senses of art lovers, Nordea became the official bank of the Latvian National Opera in 2010.
The Latvian National Opera is the one who has marched towards building its image with determination and deliberation, formed its repertoire, entertained and educated the public. A total of more than 200 plays appear on stage during season, symphonic and chamber music concerts, as well as events within the educational curriculum. The Latvian National Opera enjoys high international reputation on the world’s opera and ballet markets.

Latvian annual theatre award ceremony Spelmanu nakts (Performer’s night)

Nordea supports projects that foster development of new talents and help preserving cultural traditions. One of the highlights of Latvian stage events is the theatre award ceremony Spelmanu nakts.
Nordea became the prime sponsor to Spelmanu nakts in 2007 and introduced the Grand Nordea Spectators Vote. It is an opportunity to the audience decide and vote their favourites in three major nominations of Spelmanu nakts – Drama Show of the Year, Actor of the Year and Actress of the Year.
Spelmanu nakts takes place annually on November 23, the birthday of Mr. Eduards Smiļģis, a Latvian giant of the stage. Figures of Skatuves nagla (Stage nail – believed to bring good luck to the actor finding it), the awards of Spelmanu nakts, made for the the occasion by artist Jura Gagainis, are annually presented to the best play staged by the Latvian theatres, actors, directors.

Music and art festival Positivus

Positivus festival is the largest music and art festival in the Baltic countries, taking place in Salacgrīva since 2007 already. The stage of this festival has hosted stars like Travis, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, Fatboy Slim, Moby, Sinead O’Connor as well as others.
Since 2010, Positivus festival keeps going supported by Nordea pensions, bearing a common motto: Think positive! Let that be a reminder – if you are about to spend your days of age in an atmosphere as positive as the emotions experienced during Positivus festival, then retirement is something to be planned ahead.
