Nordea House Gains International Recognition in the Review of Best Designs in Latvian Architecture

In the annual Review of Best Designs in Latvian Architecture the Latvian Architects Association has awarded the best masterpieces in Latvian architecture, Nordea House among them. From among 24 objects nominated, Nordea House was awarded „the bronze pineapple slice” what is the award granted by an international jury for the best architectural projects of 2009.

Anatolijs Peskovs, Nordea Member of the Management Board: „We are proud of working in an office building that has been highly appreciated by architectural experts. The name given by us to the building is „Nordea House” what means that comfort and convenience of our employees, customers and cooperation partners is a core issue. Despite the numerous professional awards granted to the building, I think that the highest award for the architects is the fact that our employees love working there.”

The building was designed by architects Visvaldis Sarma and Inga Zudina (architectural bureau Sarma&Norde) what are among the most recognized designers of large business centers. The developer and the owner of the building is the holding company LNK (Latvijas Novitātes Komplekss) with whom the bank has executed a long-term rental agreement.

The Latvian Architects Association describes the building as: „one of the most characteristic features of the building is the mutual interconnection of its elements. Construction, layout and sequence of premises can be easily comprehended and the conception of colors, materials and planning methods is obvious.”

The project discloses hierarchy of premises: the layout does not reveal subordination inside the company, but the subordination of practical use of the premises – the more people use the premises, the higher the importance that has been allocated thereto.”
