The New Trainees of Nordea Bank Start Summer Internship

In July 15 students start their summer internship in Nordea Bank. This year a record number of applications for practice places were received. For 15 vacancies there were 267 applications from students of universities of Riga and of other regions.

Head of Personal Management Department of Nordea Bank Viktorija Veisa: “This summer there were almost 18 students applying per one practice place in the Bank. This is a tough competition, and it shows that youth practice and employment is a topical issue. It has to be acknowledged that those students applying for practice at present are often more highly motivated, interested and ready to work than the active job seekers with experience.  From this point of view, this time is to be considered as the time of chance for young, ambitious and active people, and this is a serious issue for consideration for job seekers with experience”.

The largest number of applications was received for vacancies in the Public Relations Department and the Corporate Department. Large interest was paid also to the possibilities of internship in regional customer service centres in Jelgava, Sigulda, Valmiera and Daugavpils. Selection was organised in two stages – in the first stage, the personal management specialist evaluated the candidates’ CV, but in the second stage, the potential candidates met the manager of their internship.

Internship in Nordea is paid and lasts up to 3 months.  Those who applied for the summer internship positions in Nordea were young people willing to gain experience in the Public Relations Department, Marketing Department, Sales Department, Credit Administration Department, Credit Analysis Department, Corporate Department, as well as the customer service centres. The largest number of applications was received from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, the University of Latvia, the School of Business and Finance, and the Latvian Academy of Culture.

You are also welcome to follow the daily tasks of the trainee of Nordea summer internship in the Public Relations Department, the third year student of the Latvian Academy of Culture Signe Lonerte on Twitter – http://twitter.com/signelonerte.

During the last years, already more than a hundred of Latvian students have participated in the internship programme of Nordea Bank. For most of the students internship in Nordea Bank has been a part of their university study programme requirements, yet many students have chosen the internship at their own initiative in order to gain practical experience in their respective field of interest.
