Nordea and airBaltic Receive International Award

The BalticMiles MasterCard, a co-branded credit card created by Nordea and the  airBaltic airline, has been awarded a silver medal in the Europe/Africa group of the international Freddie Awards 2012. It achieved a total score of 8.89 out of 10.

Jana Strogonova, Head of Retail Banking at the Latvia Branch of Nordea says, “It is truly gratifying to receive an international award of this kind. There is a good reason why 40 per cent of newly issued Nordea credit cards are BalticMiles MasterCards. Moreover, in terms of number of transactions, this is the second-most frequently used Nordea credit card. Nordea customers mainly use the BalticMiles credit card to purchase petrol (35%) and to shop online (30%), whereas 27% of our customers use the card to make payments when abroad.”

 

Ever since the BalticMiles MasterCard was introduced in 2009, customers have received a total of 14.4 million BalticMiles Points for various purchases within the Nordea banking network these BalticMiles Points can be redeemed for various goods and services at the BalticMiles Shop.

 According to the data, 80% of all customers redeem the points they have accrued as part of the BalticMiles programme for airline tickets.

The Freddie Awards were introduced in 1988 by Inside Flyer magazine. Today, the Freddie Awards have become the most prestigious in the travel industry. Every year, 300 million members of various loyalty programmes take part in the vote.
